Local folder projects
Use the Yori desktop app to open a folder on your computer as a project, so chat and Yori work directly on its files.

In the Yori desktop app you can open a folder on your computer as a project. Its files stay on your computer: Yori reads and writes them in place, and nothing in the folder is uploaded.
Open a folder
- In the desktop app, choose File › Open Folder… (
⌘+O), or select Open folder in the projects list. - Pick the folder.
Yori creates a project named after the folder and opens it. Local projects show a laptop icon next to their name, wherever projects are listed.
Work with the files
Project documents lists the folder's files and subfolders. Hidden files, and anything the folder's .gitignore leaves out, aren't shown.
- Select a Markdown file to open and edit it in Canvas. Changes save straight to the file.
- Other text files open read-only. Images and other non-text files can't be opened in Yori.
- Create, rename, move and duplicate files and folders from the file tree. Deleting moves the file to your computer's Trash.
- Changes you make in other apps appear in Yori straight away.
Chat with your files
Chats in a local project work like any other project chat. Yori lists, reads, searches and writes the folder's files as it works, using the desktop app on your computer. It only sends the model what the task needs, such as the file it's reading.
Yori can't read or change hidden files, such as .env, or anything the folder's .gitignore leaves out.
On another device
A local project's files are only on the computer that holds the folder. On another computer, or in a browser, the project's chats still open, and Project documents shows which computer the folder is on. To work on the files, open the Yori desktop app on that computer. In the desktop app on another computer, Open folder here… links the project to a folder on that computer instead.
